Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Where are my timer settings and history stored?
Timer settings, categories, sessions, and history are stored only on your device and are not uploaded to any server by the App. (Note that in the free tier, advertisements served by Google AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as IDFA), usage data, diagnostics, and approximate location data on the AdMob side; see the Privacy Policy for details.)
Q. Can I migrate my data to a new device?
The current version stores data locally only and does not offer automatic device-to-device migration. We recommend exporting important records via the Pro CSV export feature if you need to keep them.
Q. I purchased Pro but I still see ads
If your purchase has not been applied immediately, please tap "Restore purchase" on the Settings screen. If that does not resolve the issue, please contact us via the support email above.
Q. What does Pro include?
- CSV export of experiment records (not available in the free tier)
- Unlimited saved user-created timers / chained sessions (free tier is limited to 5 timers and 2 chained sessions)
- Extended history retention (free tier: 1 day / 7 days → Pro: 30 days / unlimited)
- Ad-free experience
One-time purchase, no recurring charges (your local App Store price is shown on the in-app purchase screen). Family Sharing is enabled where supported by Apple.
Q. Can I use the sample timers (TBST wash / Centrifugation, etc.) in the free tier?
Yes. The 5 pre-installed sample timers do not count against the "5 user-created timer" free-tier limit and can be used without restriction. You can edit or delete them freely.
Note that the 1 sample session (Secondary antibody + wash) counts toward the regular "2-session" free-tier limit, just like any other active session. With the sample session present, you can create up to 1 additional session before reaching the cap.
Q. Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple under their refund policy and may be available depending on the circumstances. Please request a refund directly via Apple: https://reportaproblem.apple.com
Note that the developer cannot process refunds.
Q. What happens to my data after a refund?
Your timer settings and history data are not deleted after a refund. Pro features (CSV export, unlimited saves, long-term history, ad-free) are turned off, but any timers you created remain usable. When you create or duplicate new timers, the free-tier limit (5 user-created timers) applies again. Repurchasing Pro restores full access.
Q. How do I delete all of my data?
Uninstalling the App will delete all local data associated with the App.
Q. Do timer completion notifications work in the free tier?
Yes. Timer completion alarms and Lock Screen notifications work in the free tier.
Q. I don't get notifications when a timer ends
Please check that notifications are allowed for LabCountimer under iOS Settings → Notifications → LabCountimer. Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banner display all need to be enabled. Note that Do Not Disturb and Focus modes can also suppress notifications.
Q. Does the timer keep accurate time while the app is in the background or the screen is locked?
By design on iOS, the in-app counter pauses while the app is in the background or the screen is locked, but a local notification is scheduled for the timer's end time so the alarm still fires at the configured time. The elapsed time is recomputed when you reopen the app.
Q. A timer result looks unexpected / the app crashed
Please report it via the support email with the reproduction steps (which timer, the configured values, and what happened). Including the App version and iOS version is helpful too.
Q. How do I change my advertising / privacy consent?
You can revoke or re-grant App Tracking Transparency (ATT)
permission at any time via iOS
Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
Because the App in v1.0 always requests non-personalized ads only
(requestNonPersonalizedAdsOnly: true), no IDFA-driven
tracking ads are served regardless of your ATT choice. Pro users
see no ads at all (when the app launches already in Pro, the AdMob SDK is not initialized).
