LabColony
LabColony is a local-first app for managing research animal colonies in the lab. Start from rooms, racks, cages, and animals, then manage breeding, cage moves, administrations, procedures, deaths/euthanasia, body weights, routine tasks, and summaries in one app. You can begin on a single device and expand later to backup/restore, CSV export, and optional cloud sync.
Key Features
- Room, rack, and cage management - organize housing locations, rack layouts, cage status, and occupancy.
- Animal management - track animal codes, strains, genotypes, sex, age, status, and cage history.
- Identification marks - manage ear punches, tail marks, body marks, tattoos, and related settings.
- Breeding records - record pairings, expected births, deliveries, weaning, and related events.
- Procedure, administration, and death records - keep histories for treatments, procedures, deaths/euthanasia, and cage moves.
- Body weight records - record weight history for each animal and support weight-loss checks.
- Routine tasks - manage scheduled cage work such as feeding, watering, bedding changes, and weight checks.
- Reports and CSV export - summarize live counts, births, deaths, purchases, and protocol-level records.
Plans
- Free: Start recording on one device. Ads are shown in the free plan.
- One-time purchase: Remove ads and enable backup/restore and CSV export.
- Personal subscription: Enable cloud sync across up to three devices using the same account.
- Organization subscription: In preparation for shared data among lab members.
Actual prices and available products are shown by the App Store in Settings > Plan inside the app. The organization subscription is in preparation and no price is currently shown.
Data Handling
LabColony is local-first. Unless you enable cloud sync, records such as animals, cages, breeding, administrations, procedures, body weights, and routine tasks are stored on your device. When cloud sync is enabled, the data required for synchronization is sent to a Supabase cloud environment. The free plan displays ads via Google AdMob, which may process device-level and ad-related information according to Google's policies. See the Privacy Policy for details.
